Who I Am

I am an educator first and a computer geek second.

I have been an educator for more than ten years and I have worked with students from age four through age 94! Central to my teaching philosophy is the idea that everyone can learn, and everyone can be taught.

Yes, I know a lot about computers and technology, but I am not trained as an IT person — I’m trained as a teacher. I know how to make technology familiar and take away the fear of the unknown that so many people feel when they face these new tools. New technologies are often not created with everyone in mind, and I have made it my mission to help anyone who feels left behind by technology to close that gap.

What I Do

Lessons with me are always personalized to your current skills and technology goals. There is no task too small and no question too basic. My teaching methods are simple and customizable. My patience is unlimited.

So don’t wait to begin our time learning together. Pick up the phone and call to make an appointment! I can’t wait to meet you.

Individual Lessons

$100 per 90-minute lesson

Individual lessons are the most efficient and effective way to achieve specific technology goals. When you purchase a lesson from me, I assess what you would like to learn/achieve, and make an individualized plan to get you to the finish line. Initial lessons include a folder for organization, and every lesson comes with detailed notes of what we cover in each session.

For a discount on lessons, opt to purchase a multi-lesson pack:

$290 3-Pack | $475 5-Pack

Why 90 minutes?

A 90-minute lesson allows time for questions, repetition and troubleshooting, plus getting to know each other, without overloading our capacity to absorb information. From experience, I have found that 60-minute sessions aren’t quite long enough, but more than 90-minutes is usually too long.

Consultations

If you are not ready to start learning, but you have questions about technology, or if you have devices around the house that need setting up, I can help with that! Consultation rates start at $75/hour and can be prorated by 15-minute increments.

Group Classes

I offer group classes as an independent contractor for institutions such as public libraries, senior centers, and other centers of educational enrichment. A group class is still a dynamic form of instruction during which I encourage active participation, and make every attempt to personalize the class based on the students in attendance. A group class would also come with a take-away information handout or packet so students can feel free to participate fully, taking note as needed. I calculate fees on a case-by-case basis for Group Classes, depending on the nature of the request. I prefer to limit classes to a 15-person maximum, as the quality of individualized attention decreases significantly with groups larger than that.

Seminars

A seminar is a lecture-style, informational session, such that you might find at a professional conference. This differs from a group class as there would be no materials or hands-on instruction included. A seminar is ideal for learners who wish to hear about emerging technologies and consider what they may wish to learn in the future.

Pricing for group classes and seminars are calculated on a case-by-case basis.
